About the Challenge

Mike Cina Michael Cina
Co-Founder, You Work For Them

Michael Cina is the cofounder of WeWorkForThem and YouWorkForThem and currently running the Minneapolis, MN studio. He has experimented with many forms of design and is well known for his typographic work. Mike also spent many years as an online artist and freelancer upholding successful projects like Trueistrue.com that brought a whole new approach to the way designers looked at the medium of web development, interaction, motion, and time. Mike continues to advance the understanding of his education in design styles such as Bauhaus, Modernism, Swiss, and Constructivism into a warping of abstract complex grids that equal functional design developments.

Nando Costa Nando Costa
Founder & Creative Director, Nervo

Nando Costa is the Creative Director of multi-disciplinary design studio Nervo. Nando has worked with a wide array of brands to bring campaigns to life in the fields of print, interactive and animation. Nowadays, based out of Portland in the Pacific Northwest, Costa leads Nervo to create intricate animation for brands such as Nike, Timex, Dentyne Ice and Microsoft.

Costa's career includes Creative Director positions at his previous design studio Nakd (in Rio de Janeiro) as well as at ad agency Modernista! (Boston). He has curated two books "Brasil Inspired" and "Disorder in Progress", both published by the well respected Die-Gestalten Verlag.

Mick Ebeling Mick Ebeling
Executive Producer, The Ebeling Group

Mick Ebeling is the founder and Executive Producer of The Ebeling Group (TEG), a production company representing avant guarde design collectives Lobo, MK12, Nakd, XYZ Studios , Arthur Industries, Convert, Bitstate, Tennant and live-action director Caskey. Prior to opening TEG, Mick served as the CEO and Executive Producer for boutique ad agency They, Inc. While there, he oversaw a client roster that included NASA, Excite, and the City of Los Angeles. He is a noted expert in the field of design and has moderated and spoken on panels at design conferences in the U.S., Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore.

Jose Gomez José Gomez
Creative Director, Shilo

Jose Gomez, Director and Creative Director of Shilo, is fearless in bringing his vision to the table. With over 13 years experience in image-making, storytelling, and brand-building, Jose operates with the belief that great stories are built with a strong, clear message wrapped in beautiful and functional design. Being a director, fine artist, and designer, he has had the opportunity to combine his skills and create successful entertainment and commercial campaigns for clients like Scion, Fuel TV, Nike, Sony, and Showtime.

Victor M. Newman Victor M. Newman
Creative Director, Freestyle Collective

Co-Founder and Creative Director of Freestyle Collective. With a passion for motion graphics, live-action directing, print design, photography and illustration, Victor has built a 20-year career in design, branding and promotions. In the spirit of Gordon Parks, Victor keeps active ties with the design community, serving on the Broadcast Design Association board and volunteering as a active member of the AIGA mentors program.

Jonathan Notaro Jonathan Notaro
Founder, Brand New School

Jonathan's passion in design led him to pursue an laternative path: He graduated in Graphic Design from California Institute of the Arts. After one year working as an Art Director for a motion graphics company, he founded design company Brand New School in 2001. Seven years later, the company has gathered numerous awards and press for their work for almost any great brand and agency in the US.

During his years as Creative Director of Brand New School, he's directed numerous spots, station IDs and music videos in a variety of techniques ranging from pure live action to complete CG and everything in between.

Adina Sales Adina Sales
Executive Producer & Founder, Blacklist

Adina Sales began her career as an agency producer working at Angotti, Thomas, Hedge and then Merkley + Partners. She later became an executive producer at Young + Rubicam, New York. She has produced award winning television campaigns for Mercedes, Saab, Pfizer, Partnership for Drug Free America, to name a few.

In January 2006 Sales departed agency side to launch Blacklist, a sister company of cutting-edge animation company Psyop. Blacklist's mandate is to create visual delights that excite inspired minds. The roster reflects unique talent in mixed media, design and animation. Blacklist directors are multifaceted: their resumes include commercial and video production, urban toy design, performance and installation art, vj'ing and music.

Alexei Tylevich Alexei Tylevich
Co-Founder and Creative Director, Logan

Logan is an experimental studio model combining design, production and post-production into a seamless workflow, known for it's innovative approach to projects across various media. The company's creative output ranges from directing TV spots and music videos to print, branding, broadcast, environmental design, fashion, online and sound design. A team of filmmakers, designers, and animators collaborate from concept development through project completion, exploring a unique blend of live action, animation and visual effects for clients like Apple, Konami, Casio, Volkswagen, and Nike, among many others.
