“See What's Possible” Challenge

Anything is possible by B designs

Backstory

Everything is done in Photoshop. My take on the 15 second spot was to showcase the miracles that Photoshop can perform. Anything is possible with Photoshop. I thought by showing how images can be manipulated with cut and paste and the liquify tool that it would visually show novice users or people that have never used Photoshop the power of the program. The music is an original song by Staxx used with permission. More info about Staxx and their music can be found at http://www.myspace.com/staxxroxx and inquiries can be emailed to kchammy@yahoo.com. Both the Waves at La Jolla, California and Mona Lisa photos are public domain images and used with permission and all the rest are my own photos. the public domain photos can be verified as public domain at: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5f/MonaLisa_sfumato.jpeg&imgrefurl=http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:MonaLisa_sfumato.jpeg&h=400&w=350&sz=26&hl=en&start=3&tbnid=9JZ9IFfzik9VCM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=109&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmona%2Blisa%2Bpublic%2Bdomain%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den%26ie%3DUTF-8 and http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:MonaLisa_sfumato.jpeg

Yah this piece isn't high quality for a design competition; however it would certainly be shown in the Whitney biennial or at the New Museum! Haha I hope you win!

  • sandro said (8 months ago):

    terrible...

  • danguai said (8 months ago):

    This is soooooo NO Good.

    This is soooooo Good.

  • Leizelle said (8 months ago):

dude your work is great! Everyone who've entered should give themselves a round of applause. I worked sleepless nights to finish my project and it came out better than I expected. and I'm getting negative responses. High fives to you!

  • robin laws said (9 months ago):

it is hard to believe that the negative comments i see here have any other intent than to be rude. frankly they detract from the contest. the creative work of each person will stand for itself during the judging process. why on earth aren't your own family and friends stopping by to give you 'votes of confidence' on your work? this contributor doesn't need a lot of fake posts to give them support. the fact that any of you thought of it seems to indicate...i don't even know what.. but it isn't not anything healthy..

  • petergng said (9 months ago):

art is art in any shape or form. The fact that there's a discussion here proves his entry works.

  • Chreamps said (9 months ago):

Great job! Like your take on what is possible with Photoshop!

  • DawnMcD said (9 months ago):

I think you used the media wonderfully to express your theme and ideas! Many many Photoshop users do not use them professionally but to explore their creative and artistic side outside their profession.

  • FrenchRuby said (9 months ago):

"we ain't talking about consumers. We are talking about artists. Artists do not equal consumers." Yep, and real artists use Illustrator and Painter, not Photoshop. Oh, did that comment get your goat? Good, now you know what it feels like to be the target of somebody's thoughtless belittling comment. Everyone's a critic, apparently, but where's your 'art'? Put up or shut up.

  • fybs said (9 months ago):

I don't get why everybody is getting so worked up about this, the fact is, even if this piece (of...) wins the people's choice award, who cares. They get a copy of CS3 - which is the same as if you get into the top 5 finalists. The people's choice award is kinda unimportant, really. It probably won't affect how the judges vote, and if you're good enough to make it into the top 5, you don't need internet votes, so just make something obviously better, and move on people. Let this persons friends hype it up as much as they want, best case scenario they get free software and it ends there.

Can't be the real winner. No way. Cut and Paste would never allow it. The edit is too klompy and like mid-nineties internal corporate communications thing going on. Whats with the explosion at the end? Also: "emedia said (20 hours ago): I voted for this one for three reasons...And lastly because it shows what can be done with Photoshop only instead of asking the target audience to buy 5 different expensive softwares to be able to achieve the same effect. Your average consumer usually cannot afford Photoshop, illustrator and After Effects." Fam, we ain't talking about consumers. We are talking about artists. Artists do not equal consumers. Artists find the programs they need to create ART, whether its hook or crook. "My people had Pro Tools, I had no tools" - K. West

Man, check out crime scene video 84 if you want to see some real graphic design accompanied with a custom audio track made just for this contest....OG from the ground up!!! Watch it a few times and you will see more details every time.. Check the high rez version too!!!

  • emedia said (9 months ago):

There are several really cool technical videos here but I voted for this one for three reasons. First, it would be very easy to break this down into 3 short segments asking each question seperately and answering with Photoshop CAN...building a full campaign. Secondly, even without the music, it evokes thought from the audience by asking the questions and is just effective without the music for those instances where audio would not be useful. And lastly because it shows what can be done with Photoshop only instead of asking the target audience to buy 5 different expensive softwares to be able to achieve the same effect. Your average consumer usually cannot afford Photoshop, illustrator and After Effects. At least this gets them to purchase Photoshop which will hopefully lead them to later purchase more Adobe product as they learn the software.

Great job on this! Very creative, all while encompassing some of the "issues" of today.

  • digigrl said (9 months ago):

I would dare say that a large market of consumers that purchase Photoshop are not designers wanting animation and video graphics but instead are photographers, scrapbookers, hobbiest, etc. who are only wanting photo correction and manipulation so I think this is geared more toward them. I think if you can't say anything constructive then don't say anything. I also noticed that more votes were made on this one after all the negative comments started. I guess people vote for the underdog more often than not. All you have done is draw more attention and voters.

  • mark01981 said (9 months ago):

I would like to point out that the popular vote or most viewed entry does not determine who wins the grand prize only the popular vote prize, the former is still determined by judges… cut and paste admin correct me if I’m wrong?

  • CSStudio said (9 months ago):

Maybe these users submitted videos and then added another user name to make comments with. Isn't that how this has the most votes? Why have a comment section if you don't want opinions?

  • CutandPaste Admin said (9 months ago):

Hey folks, Sounds like we need to chill out a bit here. No need to be so negative. If you think you could do a better job, shouldn't you be spending your time working on your own submission? We noticed that some of the naysayers haven't submitted their own...

  • panccio said (9 months ago):

wtf!!! this would totally rule if the person who did this is 8 years old!

  • tonymacaroni said (9 months ago):

lame... totally lame. And her onslaught of paid advertising just punctuates that. get real peggy. you've either created 50 bogus accounts or your family members haven't left the house in 15 years

  • Guru said (9 months ago):

At least the skill level matched the hair-metal soundtrack...irrelevant by about twenty years,

  • CSStudio said (9 months ago):

Fake e-mails + fake comments + crappy video = Most votes so far! Way to play the system. Quick...make up another user and defend yourself! If anything was possible, then why isn't it good?

  • Michellesmyname said (9 months ago):

Wow! Are a couple of you jealous much?!?! Your attitude explains a lot. Go Peggs Go! We Luv 'ya!

  • digigrl said (9 months ago):

Nice to see a photoshop ad instead of another after effects plug.
